Tejon Cañon AdditionComplimenting the stuccoed adobe construction of the existing home, this 2nd floor solarium addition clad in copper and bronze-colored metal, is packaged in a form that echoes the existing sloped and concave curved roofline. Full-height glazing along the east and north facades open up to unapologetic views of the Rio Grande Valley and the Jemez Mountains beyond, whereas strategically placed ribbon windows along the short, south elevation control sunlight while framing views of the Sandia Mountains that appear to be right in the home’s backyard. To control morning and early afternoon sunlight, perforated louvers installed vertically graze the eastern elevation while acting as a privacy screen. On the interior, Brazilian Walnut flooring folds up the wall surfaces to visually warm the space while copper finishes respond to a similar metallic language found throughout the hillside compound.
