M'Tucci's Artisan KitchenFor our repeat clients, M’tucci’s restaurant of Albuquerque, we transformed this former 1950’s Route 66 Auto Repair Building into a production kitchen for their signature breads, cheeses, meats and pastas. While the initial scope was a predominantly interior renovation, the building’s Protected as City Landmark status required a historic review board process to ensure the exterior retained it’s character and fabric through renovations that included upgrading access, building services and the building envelope. The primary elevation’s five existing bay doors were selectively rehabilitated, with some locked in place to become insulated exterior wall areas with insulated glazing. All exterior changes are reversible according to city landmarks requirements. We collaboratively designed the kitchen with the managers and owners to accommodate their specific needs with existing and new equipment, while inviting in natural light and providing work-flow focused circulation and storage. We specified clean, simple and cleanable surfaces throughout while coordinating production-caliber HVAC, lighting and electrical services to the space. |
