CNM Pop-Up Pavilion

Temporarily positioned on a street level roof plaza, the off-grid sun-powered PopUp Pavilion for CNM's rapid-start STEMulus Center is a mobile annunciator and activator. Initially conceived and located at Albuquerque's downtown innovation district to promote CNM's social and entrepreneurial energy, the pavilion breaks through barriers of identity and possibility.

As a response to mandates for a pavilion that is mobile, economical and flexible, three pre-fitted shipping containers snap together using cargo locks to create as a small shaded courtyard within the larger plaza site. Positioned with as much solar exposure as possible (to maximize photovoltaic harvesting), the composition aligns with pre-existing pedestrian desire lines. With bold graphics and a maximized vertical presence its billboard+patio character has become an instant social and visual magnet on 2nd Street.
